Attire

Every communal incident brings to light an even deeper problem. The people who support it, all across the country. Possibly, they were always bigoted but their views never got a breeding ground. Now, they have all the validation they need to act in whatever heinous ways that come to their minds.

This idea of righteousness that people have in mind, it's not just limited to religion. It's more of a societal norm. A husband would tell his wife to wear a saree instead of a suit because that's how an ideal wife is supposed to dress. A senior doctor would tell a junior doctor to not wear jeans and t-shirt because that's not how a good doctor should look like. A mother would tell her daughter to not wear shorts and crop top because that's too slutty.

No one has the right to tell anyone what to wear and what not to wear. Live and let live, is that so hard to understand? Human rights are grossly violated in all sections of our society and we need to speak up. It's happening around you. Whenever you laugh at someone for wearing a 'weird dress', that's you imposing your idea of society on someone else. Start with yourself. Greater change will follow.

Kindness
