The hardest part of coping is acceptance. The reason it's hard is that it rejects the entire narrative that you had laid out for yourself. Why should events that weren't under your control define what you are? But they do. You still try your level best, throw your arms around vigorously with the bleak hope that maybe something, anything can prevent you from changing the course of your life. Acceptance comes hard because until the time you accept, you had some hope left for yourself. It's only when you painfully realise that nothing can save you from this horror, you accept your status quo. Acceptance is a misnomer. It's submission. You give up on your fighting spirit and let the river drag you along. Sadly, that is most painful thing about life. Submitting to all the realisations on things that you are not.
